Save the Children News Brief-
Save the Children Sierra Leone on Thursday 18th July 2019 held an internal kick-off meeting with staff members on the Danish TV Collection Project at the Freetown Headquarters’ Conference Hall.
Giving an overview of the project, the Director of Communication and Advocacy, Madam Ramatu Jalloh explained that the project aims at increasing awareness and shinning spotlights on issues of Adolescents Sexual and Reproductive Health (ASRH), Sexual and Gender Based Violence (SGBV) among young people in four slum communities in Freetown: Aberdeen, Cockle Bay, Murray Town and Connaught/Last Banking. The project she said will use a combination of media and creative community engagement activities in reaching out to vulnerable groups with appropriate Sexual and Reproductive Health information.
The effects of lack of Sexual and Reproductive Health awareness among adolescent living in slum communities cannot be overemphasized: Many of them have made wrong choices in the past which have affected their lives and ways of living. With this project, adolescents will take the lead and learn on how to make safe choices.
