This idiom captures cultural values and perceptions about girlhood in Sierra Leone. It fuels harmful practices against girls that make them victims of sexual violence, underage pregnancy, and child marriage.

Save the Children Sierra Leone launches National Girls Week 2020 by introducing Girl Ambassador, Vickie Remoe, Girls advocate, entrepreneur, TV host and multimedia storyteller.
Vickie has made it her life’s work to use her platform to raise awareness on issues affecting girls and women with the goal of igniting social change.

We are happy to share with you another GREAT YEAR OF SUCCESS for two of our education projects in Pujehun; the Accelerated Education Project (AEP) and Kimi riverine education project also known as Tobells.
For 2020, the National Primary School Examinations (NPSE) pass rates are 91% for Kimi project and 88% for AEP. This is incredible considering the challenges children in these remote communities faced when COVID-19 interrupted their school year and learning.
